Star All Rounder Ravindra Jadeja create an epic record in Cricket surpassing Kapil Dev by miles

On Friday, Ravindra Jadeja made history by being the only Indian to ever pick up five wickets and score fifty runs in the same game five times. Australia’s middle order was damaged by Jadeja’s five wickets for 47 runs and 114-ball half-century on day two.

Following Australia’s decision to bat first, Indian pacers Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj combined to quickly eliminate the match’s first two openers, David Warner and Usman Khawaja. Jadeja removed the wickets of Matt Renshaw (49) and Marnus Labuschagne (49) in quick succession just as the Australian innings was about to be stabilised by Smith and Labuschagne’s 82-run stand.

Jadeja continued by dismissing Steve Smith (37) and Todd Murphy (0). He caught Peter Handscomb leg before on 31 after the batsman misjudged a sweep drive, giving him his fifth wicket and giving him his 11th Test five-for. Australia was then all out for 177.

The 34-year-old Jadeja was sidelined for five months by a knee injury he sustained at the Asia Cup the previous year. He missed the ICC T20 World Cup while recovering from surgery, which caused him to miss the tournament. This was his comeback international match after his injury.

In order to gauge his level of fitness before this series, Saurashtra selected Jadeja for the Ranji Trophy match against Tamil Nadu in January. In the second innings, he scored an astounding seven for 53 runs.
