Watch: Manoj Tiwary celebrates IPL 2020 Auctions snub

India batsman Manoj Tiwary is suffering a bitter treatment in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he went unsold for the second consecutive year. There was no bid for the right-handed batsman from any one of the eight franchises during the IPL 2020 Auction, which was held in Kolkata last week.

Tiwary’s base price was only Rs 50 lakh, but none of the side showed interest in buying his services. However, the experienced campaigner took it in a positive way as he posted a picture on social media, celebrating the ‘IPL 2020 Auction Snub’. Tiwary posted a video on Twitter n which he was seen having a beverage by the seaside.

Life should not only be lived, it should be celebrated. So here i’m celebrating the snub from IPL 2020 Auction,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, former Indian spinner Murali Karthik expressed his shock on Twitter after seeing Tiwary remained unsold.

“I dont tweet a lot, this is somewhat late since the auctions were a few days ago,but can’t understand how players like @tiwarymanoj not be picked, these are guys who have given everything for the franchise they played for.other players who come to mind @s_badrinath & @pragyanojha.”

Tiwary has played for Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab and Rising Pune Supergiant in the past. He has played a total of 98 games and scored  1,695 runs at an average of 28.72 and a strike rate of 116.97. Tiwary also played a crucial role for Kolkata Knight Riders in winning the IPL trophy in one of the seasons.

Tiwary’s former Kolkata team-mate Yusuf Pathan also got unsold. The Indian batsman remained unsold for the first time. India’s specialist two Test batsman Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihari also went unsold.

Meanwhile, the IPL 2020 auction was all about the Australian players. Fast bowlers Pat Cummins became the most expensive overseas player in the history of IPL after he was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for a whooping price of Rs 15.5 crores while Glenn Maxwell was sold to his old side Kings XI Punjab for Rs 10.5 crores.
