Pat Cummins becomes the most expensive overseas player in the IPL history

Australia fast bowler Pat Cummins has created history in the ongoing auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he becomes the most expensive overseas player in the history of the tournament. A total of 338 players are going under the hammer at the auction.

Cummins has been sold to his old side Kolkata Knight Riders for a whopping price of 15.5 crores. Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals were fighting it hard in the bid to grab the fast bowler, but KKR stunned everyone and enter in the bid after it reached INR 15 crore mark. He has overtaken the England all-rounder Ben Stokes, who was bought by erstwhile Rising Pune Supergiants for INR 14.50 crore in 2017.

The Aussie fast bowler has played only four games for KKR between the 2014 and 2015 seasons. In all, he has taken 17 wickets from 16 IPL games at an economy of 8.29.

Meanwhile, it has been the day of Australians so far in the auction. Cummins’ fellow team-mate Glenn Maxwell was also sold for a whopping price of  INR 10.75 crore to Kings XI Punjab after a tussle with Delhi Capitals, The Australian all-rounder just returned to cricket after taking a break due to mental health issues.

Australia’s limited-overs captain Aaron Finch was also sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for INR 4.4 cr while wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey has been sold to Delhi Capitals for INR 2.4 cr.

South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn remained unsold along with New Zealand all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme.
