Virat Kohli all set to break Sachin Tendulkar’s massive record

Virat Kohli Most Runs in T20I

India skipper Virat Kohli has been going through a rough patch off- late. The India skipper endured a dismal run in the recently concluded New Zealand tour. In the ODI and test series, Kohli could only manage to score only a single half-century.

In the three-match ODI series, Virat Kohli managed scores of 51, 15 and 9, while he could only muster 38 runs in the next two test matches that followed thereafter. His scores read 2, 19, 3, and 14 in the last four innings he played in New Zealand.

There had been talks that Virat Kohli might not play in the three-match ODI series against South Africa, however, the Indian captain has opted to play in the series, making his intentions quite clear. He would be hoping to put his poor form behind and get back amongst the runs.

India vs South Africa

Meanwhile, the Indian skipper is on course to create another milestone ahead of the three-match ODI series against South Africa. The 31-year old batsman is just 133 runs short of achieving 12,000 runs in one-day internationals. If he manages to get past the 12,000-run mark, he would achieve the total in 239 innings. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar achieved the feat in 300 innings, while second-placed Ricky Ponting took 314 innings to achieve the landmark.

After suffering a 2-0 whitewash in tests, India will now play a three-match ODI series against South Africa. The Proteas are coming off with a superb 3-0 win against Australia and would look to keep the momentum going.
