Virat Kohli’s Full Trophy Cabinet After RCB’s 2026 IPL Win
Virat Kohli has been playing cricket for India since 2008. In all those years, he has scored mountains of runs, broken countless records, and earned the respect of cricket fans all over the world. But one thing that always came up in discussions about him was trophies, or the lack of them, especially in the IPL.
That changed in 2025, when Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won their first-ever IPL title. And then in 2026, RCB did it again, beating Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets in the final to win back-to-back IPL titles. Kohli even hit the winning shot in the 2026 final.
So, how many trophies has Virat Kohli won? The answer is six major titles, four with India and two in the IPL. Let’s go through each one.
Trophy 1, ICC ODI World Cup 2011
Virat Kohli’s first big trophy came in 2011, when India won the ODI World Cup at home. The final was played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, and India beat Sri Lanka to lift the cup. MS Dhoni was the captain, and his six over long-on to finish the chase is one of the most famous moments in cricket history.
Kohli was 22 years old at the time. He was not yet the superstar he would become, but he was already a key part of the team. Being a part of a World Cup-winning side at such a young age was a huge moment in his career. India had last won the ODI World Cup in 1983, so the 2011 win ended a 28-year wait for Indian cricket.
Trophy 2, ICC Champions Trophy 2013
Two years after the World Cup, Kohli added another ICC trophy to his collection. India won the Champions Trophy in 2013 in England, again under MS Dhoni’s leadership. India beat England in the final to take the trophy home.
By this point, Kohli had grown into one of the best batters in the world. He was scoring runs regularly in all formats and had become a central figure in India’s batting lineup. Winning back-to-back ICC tournaments, the 2011 World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy, made this Indian team one of the most successful in the country’s cricket history.
Two trophies in three years, both under Dhoni. It was a golden run for Indian cricket, and Kohli was right at the heart of it.
The Long Wait in the Middle
After the 2013 Champions Trophy, India went through a long period without winning an ICC title. They reached finals and semifinals but could not get over the line. One of the most painful moments was the 2023 ODI World Cup final, where India were beaten by Australia in Ahmedabad, at home, after having won every match in the tournament up until that point.
Kohli had scored over 700 runs in that World Cup, but the trophy slipped away. It hurt. But the story was not over.
Trophy 3, ICC T20 World Cup 2024
India’s 11-year ICC title drought finally ended in 2024 when they won the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA. This time, Rohit Sharma was the captain, and the team was built around experience and big-match players. India beat South Africa in the final in a nerve-wracking finish to lift the title.
Kohli played a crucial role in the final. He scored 76 runs in a tense chase and helped India get over the line. After the match, he announced his retirement from T20 internationals, ending his T20I career on the highest possible note, with a World Cup medal around his neck.
It was a very emotional moment. Kohli had waited years for another ICC title. Getting it in the T20 World Cup final, and then walking away from T20Is right after, made the moment even more special.
Trophy 4, ICC Champions Trophy 2025
Just months after the T20 World Cup win, Kohli added yet another ICC trophy to his cabinet. India, again led by Rohit Sharma, won the 2025 Champions Trophy. This made Kohli one of only a few players in the world to have won multiple Champions Trophy titles.
With this win, Kohli became only the second Indian player after Rohit Sharma to have won four ICC titles. That is a remarkable achievement when you consider how tough it is to win ICC tournaments, the competition is fierce, the pressure is enormous, and only one team gets to lift the trophy each time.
Kohli has won four of those, in 2011, 2013, 2024, and 2025. Not many players anywhere in the world can say that.
Trophy 5, IPL 2025 with RCB
For years, one of the biggest talking points around Kohli was that RCB had never won the IPL. He had played for the team since the very first season in 2008. He had scored more IPL runs than any other player in history. He had won the Orange Cap, set records in single seasons, and led RCB to finals, but the trophy never came.
That changed in 2025. Under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar, RCB won their first-ever IPL title, ending an 18-year wait. Kohli was a big part of the campaign, scoring 43 runs in the final against Punjab Kings to help RCB across the line.
The scenes after RCB’s win in 2025 were unlike anything else. Players were in tears. The dugout went wild. And Kohli, who had been part of so many near-misses over the years, finally had an IPL trophy in his hands.
It was a long time coming, but it was worth the wait.
Trophy 6, IPL 2026 with RCB
If 2025 was the year RCB broke their trophy drought, 2026 was the year they proved it was no accident. RCB came back stronger in IPL 2026 and once again made it to the final. This time, their opponents were Gujarat Titans, and the match was played in Ahmedabad.
RCB were chasing 156 runs, and once again Kohli stepped up. He scored 75 off 42 balls, including the fastest fifty of his IPL career, off just 25 balls. And to make it even better, he hit the winning shot to seal the match.
Kohli was named the Player of the Final for his knock. In his post-match interview, he spoke about how clear-headed he felt going into the chase: “Felt really relaxed coming in. The team we have gives confidence to see any kind of situation through. Knew exactly what to do in the chase.”
He also talked about changing his mindset to be more attacking: “I had to change my mindset, not my game so much, take on bowlers and get extra runs.”
Back-to-back IPL titles for RCB. And Kohli, right at the centre of it all.
A Captain Who Never Won, But a Player Who Has Won It All
One of the most interesting parts of Kohli’s trophy story is that he has never won a title as the main captain, whether for India or RCB. All six of his trophies have come while playing under someone else’s captaincy.
With India, he won two under MS Dhoni (2011 World Cup, 2013 Champions Trophy) and two under Rohit Sharma (2024 T20 World Cup, 2025 Champions Trophy). With RCB, he won both IPL trophies under Rajat Patidar.
But that does not take anything away from his contribution. In each of these wins, Kohli batted at the top, scored important runs, and played a big role in getting his team to victory. Being a great team player is just as important as being a great captain.
Six Trophies, and the Full List
Here is a quick look at everything Virat Kohli has won:
| Year | Trophy |
| 2011 | ICC ODI World Cup |
| 2013 | ICC Champions Trophy |
| 2024 | ICC T20 World Cup |
| 2025 | ICC Champions Trophy |
| 2025 | Indian Premier League (IPL) |
| 2026 | Indian Premier League (IPL) |
Four ICC titles. Two IPL trophies. Six major wins in total, and he is still going.
Still Playing, the 2027 ODI World Cup Awaits
Kohli has retired from T20Is and Tests, but he is still active in ODI cricket. He has his eyes set on the 2027 ODI World Cup, where he will hope to add one more trophy to a cabinet that is already very full.
After the pain of the 2023 World Cup final loss in Ahmedabad, Kohli will be hungry to go one step further in 2027. For now, though, he can look back at six trophies, and a career that keeps writing new chapters.
