Twitter takes a dig at selectors as Ashwin tops the list for number of wickets in the decade

Once a mainstay in all three formats, Ravichandran Ashwin has now been overlooked from the shorter format of the game. The Indian spinner has claimed 150 wickets in 111 ODI matches, averaging 32.9 and an economy of 4.91. Also, Ashwin has 52 wickets to his name in 46 matches with an economy of less than 7.

Despite these numbers, the finger spinner has not played any one-day International since 2017 with the team management trusting the abilities of the likes of Yuvendra Chahal, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav.

Nonetheless, Tamil Nadu spinner hasn’t lost hope yet, and doesn’t miss out on any platform to tell the world that he still has in him to be an all-three format bowler, be it Indian Premier League or Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Recently, the International Cricket Council revealed the list of bowlers with most number of International wickets this decade and guess who tops the list?

Indian first-choice test spinner, Ravi Ashwin ended the decade with most number of wickets to his name, once again raising questions over selectors for discarding the Indian spinners from the limited over’s format.

Ravi Ashwin picked as many as 564 wickets, becoming the leading wicket-taker this decade, followed by Jimmy Neesham, Stuart Broad, Trent Boult, Tim Southee and Trent Boult.

Here’s a look at Ravi Ashwin’s overall career so far:
