The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in its eighth meeting regarding the Pakistan Super League (PSL) decided of going ahead with the remaining four matches in November that were suspended in March due to coronavirus.

The Governing Council asserted that completing the season is the “most preferred option” for the country’s cricket board which was backed by immense pressure from the league’s stakeholders. No details beyond that have surfaced after the meeting and so the final dates and schedule are yet to come out.

The PSL franchises concurred to monitor and then review the situation due to the pandemic in the country before making any exhortation to the Governing Council.

The meeting was conducted via a teleconference as PSL’s Project Executive Shoaib Naveed headed the meeting as he hailed the PCB for setting up a separate entity for taking decisions related to the Pakistan Super League including the decision on the future of this year’s campaign.

“The Franchises and PCB agreed to a framework of regular contact between the teams and the PSL Department, aiming to increase consultative dialogue on various operational and strategic matters relating to the league,” read a PCB release.

“The PCB and the franchisees expressed determination that they will continue to work together to resolve all pending matters and ensure all parties continue to flourish and benefit from what is now one of the biggest and most followed cricket leagues in the world,” said PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani.

Earlier, the BCCI had appealed to the PCB for pushing the remaining PSL matches to next year to avoid decision making clashes in organizing the Asia Cup. But now PCB is also looking for a window between September and October for staging the Asia Cup which still clashes with BCCI’s interest since the Indian apex body is looking to host IPL during that window.
