Former PAK skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed making a comeback?

Sarfaraz-Ahmed

Last year, under the leadership of Sarfaraz Ahmed, really disheartening for the Pakistan cricket team, especially in the shortest format of the game. They lost all the four series that they played in 2019 and managed to win only one game in the first 10 T20I matches they played.

In December, it was announced that he would be making an entry to the team for the T20 series against Bangladesh. But the former skipper was not included in the side because of fitness issues. Now, it seems the team is ready to have their former captain back into the side and the confirmation comes from the coach himself.

Pakistan’s head-coach Misbah-ul-Haq has made it clear that Sarfaraz Ahmed is in line to make a comeback into the team after playing some really amazing knocks in the ongoing Pakistan Super League. But most importantly, he is looking fitter than ever which can make his case even stronger.

While talking to the media, the former Pakistan skipper and now head-coach revealed that Sarfaraz has been proving himself in the PSL and the way he maintaining his fitness is also applaudable. He further stated that he is already in line to be on the side for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in October but the team has to play some matches before the tournament, so he would be crucial in them too.

However, the selection committee made it clear the PSL will play a little part in the selection of the players for the upcoming ICC tournament. But the matches after that will be scrutinized closely for the call-up.

The Men in Green would want the best of best in their side if they have to win the T20 World Cup. The players would have to remain consistent and keep on performing to make a cut into the side.

Pakistan will open their World Cup campaign with a game against the host nation Australia in Sydney. After that, they will be playing against the likes of New Zealand and the West Indies.

The Men in Green are now gearing up for a single ODI against Bangladesh which will be followed by the second Test with the Bangla Tigers. Pakistan has already won the first Test and the T20I series of the tour.
