T20 World Cup 2024 SWOT Analysis – Afghanistan Squad
The Afghanistan national cricket team will be playing in the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024. The team is looking better than ever, and they can prove to be a real threat to other teams with the kind of combination they have. Afghanistan are the dark horses of this upcoming tournament, and if they get everything right from the first game, they have an outside chance of going all the way in this format. Let’s have a look at their SWOT analysis.
Strengths
The main strength of this team is their spin bowling. The pitches in the West Indies and the USA are expected to be slow and spin-friendly. On those tracks, the spin bowling compartment of Afghanistan, consisting of Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb ur Rahman, and Noor Ahmad, can prove to be lethal. If these bowlers keep their form throughout the tournament and take consistent wickets, Afghanistan can very well create history.

Weaknesses
The glaring weakness in this Afghanistan squad is the lack of explosive batters. In the T20 format, you need players who can score quick runs and can play a game-changing inning at a fantastic strike rate. There are players on this roster who are capable of doing that, but there is no one you can be sure of to play this role. There are a lot of batters on the team who are anchors, and that might be an area of concern for them.
Opportunities
There are immense opportunities for a lot of players on this team. Players such as Azmatullah Omarzai, who is very young but immensely talented, can prove to be the most valuable players for Afghanistan. Rahmannulah Gurbaz will also catch a lot of eyes, as the onus of scoring runs for the team will largely be on him. Noor Ahmad is also someone who has an opportunity on his hands.

Threats
The problem with Afghanistan in ICC tournaments has always been that they falter in crunch situations while chasing a target. We still think they don’t have an excellent batting lineup, which is required to win an ICC tournament, and that could prove to be a threat to their chances in the T20 World Cup 2024.
