A deal is finally closed by Manchester United for Sporting CP midfielder Bruno Fernandes
Manchester United has finally broken the silence and closed the deal of signing Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon, with reports claiming that a decent fee has been agreed upon.
The reds have sealed in talks to sign Fernandes for weeks though the deal looked like was on risk to collapse over the structure of bonus payments with the Sporting feeling that the clauses were unrealistic
One required Fernandes to place in the Ballon d’Or, while United would also have to win the Premier League and Champions League in order for Sporting to receive the full sum.
Now various platforms including Record, Correio da Manha TV and a host of Portuguese outlets confirmed Sporting have accepted United’s latest, improved offer of €55million (£46.5m) plus €25m (£21m) in bonuses
Manchester United is delighted to announce it has reached agreement with Sporting Clube de Portugal for the transfer of Bruno Fernandes.
The deal is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms.

A bonus of €10m (£8.5m) is considered very realistic and will almost certainly be cashed-in on by Sporting, while the rest are harder to achieve. The deal also includes a 10% of any profit from a future sale of Fernandes to its former club Sporting.
TVI24 even opined that the deal could be finished in the ‘next few hours’, with the reds looking to get the deal rubberstamped well before the transfer deadline is over on Friday at 11 pm.
Also, Fernandes has already verbally accepted the terms with Manchester United over a transfer and will now need to travel to Manchester to complete a medical and sign his new contract and other formalities.
Sporting was hoping for a bigger fee amount for the midfielder but are in financial difficulties and need the money, however, the fee still ranks second only behind Joao Felix’s £113m move to Atletico Madrid from Benfica.
The 25-year-old has been an outstanding player in Portuguese football for varied seasons and has scored eight goals, as well as laying on seven assists, in 17 La Liga NOS outings this campaign – compiling his 20 goals and 13 assists last season.
