According to Tony Cascarino, United’s Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire are ‘terrific’ players and are highly crucial for Manchester United’s future. The duo is new players for the Red Devils, with Fernandes entered the club in the month of January while Maguire was signed last summer.

The club has evidently improved ever since midfielder Fernandes joined, having not lost in their last nine matches. Fernandes has two goals and two assists in four Premier League appearances as United’s look forward to finish in the Champions League spots gathers momentum.

The club will be having a major game on Sunday as they welcome local rivals Manchester City to Old Trafford.

And Cascarino heaped huge praise on Fernandes, saying on GameDay Breakfast: “He’s not the quickest but he’s got unbelievably quick feet – terrific right foot. Great on set pieces. They’ve missed that guy at Man United – a guy that can deliver set pieces regularly and put it on a sixpence. They’ve needed that type of player that can change a game with a pass. Man City have had that guy with David Silva…he speeds the team-up. It’s early days but he [Fernandes] has been terrific for United.”

While on the other hand, Maguire has rediscovered his form in recent weeks, scoring his first goal for the club in a useful win at Chelsea last month. The defender was recently made club captain and Cascarino believes Maguire will remain in that post for a long time.

He added: “Maguire did very well in the early part of the season for Manchester United. Then they had a bit of a dip but he was back to his very best against Everton. I thought he was terrific…he led by example and got everything away. I still think is going to be a very good player for Manchester United…I think they’ve got a captain for the next five years.”
