Current Premier League Champions Liverpool FC has signed a professional deal with the 18-year-old goalkeeper Ben Winterbottom on Thursday.
The club announced on Friday that the promising youngster has been handed his first professional contract with the club. Winterbottom had joined the club’s youth team in April last year and he was considered by the club officials for the future prospect calling him one of the promising goalkeepers of the side.
After joining the Academy last year, Ben impressed on several occasions, especially in a youth game against his former club Blackburn Rovers by making multiple saves during the match.
The 18-year-old also made his Premier League 2 debut and played against Derby County. He was the star of the game as he saved all the penalty shoots during the match.
Due to his gleaming performances, he made a cut into the U-19 team which secured a top position in the UEFA Youth League group. Moreover, he also took the bench for the first time as the youth side took on Aston Villa during the quarterfinals game of the Carabao Cup in December last year.
Jurgen Klopp surely sees immense talent in Winterbottom and that’s why he has banked on him as one of the goal-keepers of the side. His dives and height which is 6ft 2in help him do miracles on the field and has also helped him bag his first-ever professional contract at the age of just 18.
