Parents of Liverpool winger Luis Diaz kidnapped at gun point in Colombia. Find out why?
Luis Diaz, the Liverpool midfielder, faced a distressing situation when his parents were abducted in Colombia by gunmen on motorcycles. While his mother was subsequently rescued by the police in Barrancas, Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro made this announcement.
On the other hand, General William Salamanca, the country’s police director, has mobilized all available resources in the relentless search for Diaz’s missing father.

“In a padlock operation in Barrancas, Luis Diaz’s mother has been rescued, we continue the search for the father. From the moment when Colombia’s General Prosecutor’s Office learned of the kidnapping of the parents of Colombian player Luis Díaz in the Barrancas area of La Guajira, a specialist team of prosecutors, CTI (Technical Investigation Team) officials and investigators from the police and military have been taking urgent action to locate these individuals, clarify the chain of events and identify the culprits.” – Colombia’s General attorney said.
The 26-year-old Colombian international’s parents were allegedly kidnapped while en route to their residence, with initial reports indicating that the abduction occurred at a gasoline station as they traveled in a truck and were approached by armed individuals on motorcycles.
Both the military and police forces have been deployed to address the situation. In response to this unfortunate incident, Colombia’s soccer federation expressed their deep concern and implored the authorities to ensure the safe rescue of Diaz’s father.
This is definitely a shocking news from all perspectives because Luis Diaz ever since Jurgen Klopp signed him in 2022. He sustained an injury earlier in this January which ruled him out of last months of the 2022/23 season.
This season until now, Diaz has made only 11 appearances in Premier League, EFL Cup and Europa League for the Reds, scoring Thrice and registering 1 assist. Overall, the Colombian has played 58 matches for Liverpool and has scored 14 goals and gave 9 assists.
