Indore Pitch Curator Job in trouble as the pitch rated poorly by ICC

Pitches, not players, have generated the most discussion thus far in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023. Following the completion of the first two Tests in three days, the Indore Test between India and Australia at Holkar Stadium only lasted seven sessions. The BCCI is upset with the performance of the Indore pitch after Australia defeated India by 9 wickets to make the series 2-1. As the ICC classified the Indore pitch as “bad” and issued three demerit points, Samandar Singh Chouhan is likely to be fired by MPCA, exactly like the Lucknow curator was two months ago. Even the skipper, Rohit Sharma, Vikram Rathour, and Rahul Dravid voiced their displeasure with the field.

“The pitch, which was quite dry and unbalanced between bat and ball from the outset, favoured spinners. Match Referee Chris Broad stated that the game’s fifth ball “broke through the pitch surface and continued to sporadically break the surface generating little or no seam movement and there was excessive and uneven bounce throughout the game.”

The match was completed in under three days, during which both sides’ batting orders quickly fell apart, and most crucially, Indian batters were the ones who suffered most on this particular surface. Following this, the indore pitch began to receive criticism.

According to the sources the pitch curator would be called off by BCCI following the Indore Test. He’ll probably get the axe, in all likelihood. After the second Twenty20 match against New Zealand, BCCI sacked the pitch curator at Lucknow’s Ekana Cricket Stadium. Hardik Pandya, the captain, slammed the field, calling it a stunner.
