WPL 2023: BCCI launches new mascot “Shakti” ahead of 1st Match scheduled on 4th March 2023

The opening match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants on Fire will kick off the forthcoming season of the Women’s Premier League on March 4, 2023.

Top-tier celebs like Kiara Adavani, Kriti Sanon, and AP Dhillion will be present for the opening ceremony, which will start 45 minutes before the main match.

The WPL 2023 will be crucial in opening up new opportunities for women’s cricket.

In order to promote “Women empowerment in mind,” BCCI launched the mascot “Shakti” prior to the first match.

The Caption on the post wrote “Fast, Fierce and Brimming the Fire” .

The mascot announced in the form of package, has been shared by Jay Shah on his official Twitter handle.

BCCI is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that it becomes a grand spectacle.

With a big event match value of 7.09 crore, the WPL is already the second most costly league in the world.

Five teams, including the UP Warriorz, Delhi Capitals Women, Mumbai Indians Women, Royal Challengers Bangalore Women, and Gujarat Giants, will compete for the coveted crown.

WPL auction was held at JIO Convention Centre in Mumbai where distinct players were picked for whooping Prize pool where Mandhana was picked for INR 3.40 crore making her the most expensive player in the league.

WPL matches are scheduled across two venues which include-CCI and DY Patil Stadium Navi Mumbai.

The final match will be played at DY Patil Stadium.

WPL was pending long overdue, considering the amount of talent we had in our domestic cricket, they need a bigger platform to showcase their talent at a grand stage.

WPL 2023 will also provide confidence to young Indian players to learn from top overseas players and stamp their authority in distinct matches.
