India’s WTC Journey: From West Indies to Australia and Beyond
India’s Two-Time World Test Championship Finalists
India reached the WTC finals two times in a row. Now they have started the new championship cycle (2023-25) with a phenomenal victory on the soil of the West Indies. The Indian team under Rohit Sharma won the series 1-0 after the second Test play was stopped due to the interruption by rain on the 5th day of the Test match.

India’s Upcoming Test Series Against South Africa
India started their six-series WTC cycle after defeating the West Indies. The cycle includes away Tests against South Africa and Australia. India will play their next Test series after a gap of five months. They are going to tour South Africa in the month of December for two Test matches, where they aim to win a series for the first time.
Proteas won the last series 2-1 in 2021-22. From 26th to 30th December the first Test match is going to be played.
India’s Tour of Australia
The Indians then toured Australia in December for a five-match Border Gavaskar Trophy. It’s impressive that India won Back-to-Back Test Series.
India won against Australia in 2018-19 and 2021-22. They lost the first Test under Virat Kohli, but later on won the series 2-1, under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane.
India’s Upcoming Home Series Against England, Bangladesh, and New Zealand
India is set to host England, Bangladesh, and New Zealand in the new WTC cycle. The first Test series will be against England, a five-match series scheduled for January and February 2024. India will aim to win the series and achieve a hat-trick of series wins against England at home. England’s last series win against India was in 2012-13 under the captaincy of Alastair Cook. Ben Stokes-led England will be a tough challenge for India. Bangladesh and New Zealand are the other two teams that India will host in the WTC cycle.
