The third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2022/23 appears to be ending on the third day itself. The only distinction will be the winners. Following back-to-back Day 3 wins in Nagpur and Delhi, India has crumbled in front of Australia on Indore’s incredibly bad spinning track.
Previously, foreign pundits and fans had complained about these types of wickets, but now Indian fans are voicing concerns about the truly unreasonable wicket at the Holkar Stadium. The hosts gained the toss and chose to bat first, but were bundled out for 109.

Pujara: "That kind of pitch where you need to trust your defence. Need to mix defence and aggresssion. Brilliant catch by Smith. Needed a few more runs but 75 may give us a chance. I have been adding a few more shots and confidently using them."#INDvsAUS | #AUSvIND pic.twitter.com/YArps4n6dv

Only a miraculous bowling effort will allow India to win the game after Nathan Lyon took 8 wickets in the second innings. Returning to the pitch, Matthew Hayden and Mark Waugh, two former Australian batting greats, have criticized Holkar’s unplayable track, calling it a mayhem of a surface.

Mark Waugh indirectly took a dig at the pitch curators saying the track is not up to the mark to accommodate a 5-day Test cricket.
“The pitch was not up to Test standard, I think that’s a fair thing to say. Balls going through the top (layer) in the first 20 minutes of a test match, that’s not good enough.”
Matthew Hayden also criticized the pitch and said that it is a biased track which only favors spinners. “Here in Indore, the average turn is 4.8 degrees. That’s a massive turn, that’s the turn you expect on Day 3. You’ve got to give batters a chance, Ravi. Judge your players on their performance in Test match cricket. Day 1 and Day 2 should be about batting.”
On this note Ravi Shashtri gave a savage 2-word reply saying – “Home Conditions”.
