Former South Africa speedster Makhaya Ntini  wishes to coach proteas again but stated that he will never get an opportunity until there is Graeme Smith who is currently serving as Director of Cricket in South African board.

Ntini who played International cricket for South Africa between 1998 to 2009, for  101 Test matches where he clinched 390 Test wickets at an economy of 2.23. He also played 173 ODI along with 10 T20 International match and picked 272 wickets combined in white ball cricket at an economy rate of 4.53 and 9.31.

However Ntini post retirement has taken the job of entertaining the fans and cricket viewers with the mic in his hand but is inclined towards the job of a coach. Ntini had started his stint as the coach in the cricket fraternity by striking a two-year deal with the Zimbabwe National cricket team in January 2016.

However Ntini was later shown doors by the Zimbabwe team management in 2018. He added that he was sacked by his post as he wanted to do things right by taking tough decisions to improve Zimbabwe cricket to a great extent.

He concluded that he is interested to coach his home team but he knows that he would not get that chance until there is Graeme Smith in the board who would never want me in the management knowing I am stubborn when it comes to taking certain decisions to improve cricket.

“I’m still interested in coaching. I enjoyed my time with Zimbabwe, it’s a pity I was fired for wanting to do things right. But Graeme Smith will never call me for South Africa. He doesn’t like stubborn people. So, I don’t think I’ll be part of the Proteas coaching staff,” Makhaya Ntini said in an interview with SAFM.
