Fans recalls Virat Kohli's comment after his visit to Rishikesh Ashram

In preparation for Virat Kohli‘s return to cricket action later this month against Australia, the star player for Team India and his wife, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, took a spiritual retreat in Rishikesh.

The couple and their daughter Vamika visited the Swami Dayanand Giri Ashram in the Uttarakhand city of Rishikesh, and several photos of their trip quickly went viral on social media. In addition, Kohli complied with numerous fan requests for selfies as they arrived at the ashram to see the celebrity pair.

Many fans were quick to recall a remark made by Kohli seven years ago during a press conference at the T20 World Cup as soon as the images of the couple’s trip to the Ashram were released on Twitter. At the tournament in Mohali, India was slated to play Australia in a game that may decide the outcome. A reporter had questioned Kohli about if he practises ‘pooja-paath,’ or prayers, to maintain his composure under pressure.

Kohli said “Do I look the pooja-path types?” leaving the room into splits. “When I first began, a lot of things about myself were incorrect. I was the one with the tattoos and the fashionable wardrobe. It would be extremely simple for me to concentrate on the bad, but I choose not to. My daily goal is to become a better cricket player. I make sure to put in the necessary effort in the hopes that it will eventually pay off. I feel confident in my ability to compete and prevail.

“You don’t have a very long career if you are a cricketer. It presents a chance for me. As soon as you become dependent on it (performance), you crave more and more of it. You put in a lot of effort and desire that fulfilment, “He added.”
