Edinson Cavani is on the verge of moving away from Parc des Princess. What price will PSG demand?

edinson-cavani-psgEdinson Cavani has told PSG that he wants to leave the club after the Spanish side Atletico Madrid made an approach to sign the striker. Edinson Cavani has asked to leave Paris Saint-Germain but the club has rejected an initial approach from Atletico Madrid. Also, the recent news suggests that the striker has submitted a transfer request to move away from Paris.

PSG’s record goalscorer Cavani is out of contract at the end of the season and has repeatedly been linked with a January move away from the Parc des Princes.

A move to Atletico appeared close earlier in the transfer window, and the Uruguay international sat out both the midweek win against Monaco and Sunday’s 1-0 Coupe de France defeat of Lorient. However, it is reported PSG has turned down a €10million bid from the LaLiga club, although Leonardo revealed there would be further discussions.

Also, United was offered the opportunity to sign the Uruguay international in the January transfer window, with Cavani starting only four games on the best flight in France this season.

Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid are among the clubs that are also linked to a 32-year-old approach and a play seems fruitful if Tuchel’s latest comments are valid. Tuchel admitted that Cavani’s future is in the air.

Asked about the striker’s future after PSG’s 1-0 win over Lorient, Tuchel replied:

‘I am not sure that Edinson Cavani will be here in February.’

A short-term loan could make sense for United, with Solskjaer desperate to find a replacement for Marcus Rashford, who is set to miss the next two or three months with a stress fracture in his back.

‘Well we’ve had many, many injuries on big players for us this season,’

‘We’ve had now Marcus, Anthony’s been out for months, Paul’s been out for more than half the season, Scott’s been out for months.

‘So it’s just an unfortunate situation that we’re in. It might be because the window is open that we look at some short-term deals as well and that could take us through until the summer.’

Probed on whether United desperately need a striker now, he added:

‘Desperately? Not desperately. Of course we’re looking at numbers as well, because we’ve had many injuries.

‘So if the right one is there and it will fit for us, we can buy. If there’s loans available it might be possible. But I’ve got players here as well that are chomping at the bit.’
