Sydney Thunder’s spinner Chris Green has been cleared to resume bowling after serving a ban for his illegal bowling action. The bowling all-rounder passed the biomechanical testing in Brisbane on Tuesday as now he can return to the cricket field.

Green was handed a suspension of three months in the month of January, after a suspicion on his off-spinning and faster deliveries that soon brought him under the scrutiny.

Last week Green appeared for the test where his deliveries were found to be “significantly below” 15 degrees of the elbow extension. As he gets a clearance from the Cricket Australia, he now has hopes of playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders on his IPL debut this year.

“To have to sit on the sidelines and not be able to play or help the team was really difficult. But at the same time, it was also a big factor in my motivation to get back to playing as quickly as possible. I am very grateful for all the support from the Thunder and Cricket NSW coaches.” Green said after getting clearance.

Cricket NSW Pathways and Assistant coach Anthony Clark helped Green by working on his new legal bowling action, playing a significant role in his return. Besides, Green has been an impressive player in this season’s Big Bash League, taking 33 wickets at an economy rate of  7.06 while scoring 351 runs for the Sydney Thunders at an average of 18.47.

Last year Green had signed a six-year-long deal with the Sydney Thunder and also bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2020
