Champions League Quarter Final between Manchester City vs. Bayern Munich: Match preview, head-to-head comparison, where to watch, probable X1, match prediction

Manchester City vs. Bayern Munich

The most anticipated game of the week is the first leg of the quarter final between Manchester City and Bayern Munich at the Etihad. The game is set to start on April 12 at 12:30 IST. There will be live streaming of the match on the Sony Liv app and other Sony Sports channels.

Six times in a row, Pep has guided his club to the quarterfinals, but they have never once been able to win the league title. In 2020–21, they made it to the finals but lost to Chelsea, placing them as runners-up in the league. Whereas, Bayern won the championship in the 2019–20 season by defeating Paris Saint-Germain.

In their six Champions League encounters, both teams won three games each, with City taking two of their three home matches over Bayern. Currently, City has won eight straight games in all leagues after defeating Southampton on Saturday by a score of 4-1.

After dismissing Nagelsmann, Bayern hired former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel to come back after falling behind Dortmund in the Bundesliga. In his first game, Tuchel had an impact, defeating Dortmund by a score of 4-2. Bayern has won two of the three games under Tuchel’s management so far.

As Tuchel defeated City in the only final they have ever reached while he was Chelsea’s manager, Pep and company will try to get revenge on Tuchel by ending Bayern’s Champions League run.

Foden will not play since he is still recovering from surgery, while Bayern’s star striker Eric Maxim Chupo-Moting will not play as he was unable to travel with the team to Manchester because of a knee injury.

Probable X1-

Manchester City: Ederson (GK); Stones, Diaz, Ake, Walker; Rodri, Gundogan, Debruyne; Grealish, Mahrez, Haaland.

Bayern: Sommer(GK), Davis, De Ligt, Upamecano, Cancelo; Kimmich, Goretzka; Muller, Musiala, Sane; Gnabry.

Match Prediction: I believe the clash between the German and English champions will be an intriguing one where Manchester City will beat Bayern by one goal difference.

While Bayern is not at their best, Manchester City is in unbeatable form. Having recently replaced their manager,it will take a while for Bayern to stabilize. Additionally, because Choupo-Moting, their main striker, is injured and the other strikers like Mane are struggling, it will be difficult for them.
