To make cricket reach the fans, BCCI is all set to prepare a new international stadium in Varanasi’s Ganjari at the cost of 300 crores. The new stadium will have a seating availability of more than 30000. This will be the third international stadium in the state after Kanpur’s green park and Lucknow’s Ekana stadium but will be the first international stadium in the Purvanchal region.

The BCCI officials, Vice President Rajeev Shukla and secretary Jay Shah along with the technical team took a ground visit on Tuesday. The budget for the stadium has been finalised. The government of Uttar Pradesh has released a fund of Rs. 120 crores as compensation to acquire 31 acres of land from local farmers.

BCCI officials will soon be involved in meetings with the office bearers of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association about the project completion. Board is aiming to make the new stadium world-class by also allocating the work in its surrounding area. As per reports, the new stadium will be prepared for day-night matches as well. In addition to this, special water-absorbing technology would also be installed in the Ganjari Stadium.
