As BCCI‘s honorary treasurer, Arun Dhumal, said in the statement, “The Board of Control for Cricket in India has taken note of the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday for containment of COVID 19 across the country”.

He further added that “Taking into account the restrictions on air travel and movement of people till May 31st, the BCCI will wait further before organizing a skill-based training camp for its contracted players. The Board also reiterates that the safety and well-being of its athletes and support staff is important and will not rush to make any decision that can deteriorate or hamper India’s effort to contain the virus”.

New guidelines by the Ministry of Home Affairs allow sports complexes and stadiums to reopen. However, spectators would not be permitted during the lockdown period as lockdown 4.0 has been extended till 31st May 2020.

Dhumal said, “In the meantime, the cricket governing body will study guidelines at the state level and will work in sync with all the State Cricket Associations so that we can chalk out the plans for conducting skill-based training at the local level.

“The BCCI office-bearer will discuss the program with team management and will find some suitable plan for the entire team once the situation improves” Dhumal concluded.
