Former commissioner of Delhi, Neeraj Kumar who has also served as the chief of BCCI’s anti-corruption and security team from 2015 to 2018 has spoken in a conversational podcast with Siddharth Bhatia. Neeraj told in his book named “A Cop in Cricket” that his career in BCCI was full of downs as he was somebody who questioned the existence of corruption in cricket. He also mentioned in his book that the BCCI was not really up to clearing things like corruption from cricket. It was he who drew the attention towards spot-fixing and corruption.

Kumar has opened up about many things when asked. He said that when he was new in the BCCI nobody wanted him. He felt like an uninvited member who was sent there to cause them inconvenience. Initially, he had the office which was then taken away from him even without his informing. He was not given any office since then as he mentioned.

While responding on his behalf to the critics he made on the BCCI in his book, he said, “Whenever I would visit Bombay, I would, you know, sit in one cabin or the other. And never in my three years did anyone ask me, “What do you think is happening?”; “What is the corruption seen in cricket in India?”, “What do you think we should do?”, “What are your problems?”. I was going after them, giving presentation after presentation, telling them that we require more manpower, we require more resources – but it made no impression on them. It became very clear to me that they are not interested, it was just a box that they had ticked by appointing me and that was the end of the matter.

Kumar has in his 37 years career been posted in many states and won awards. While serving in cricket, he has burst the rampant match-fixing involved in regional leagues.
