Sourav Ganguly praises India on Twitter after the Wankhede win

President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly is happy after the way the Indian team performed in the series decider against the West Indies at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

The former India captain lauded the team for their fearless batting which was full of boundaries and sixes by the top three batsmen in the batting order. After winning the first T20I and losing the second one, India clinched the series by winning the decider by 67 runs to claim the series 2-1 and continue their series-winning spree at home.

“Not many expected India to lose a series .. win was not a surprise .. what will stand out is the fearless batting which all will see in T20 now ..play without fear .. no one plays for his place but plays to win ..well done india,” Ganguly tweeted after the game.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, the trio of KL Rahul (91 off 56 balls), Rohit Sharma (71 off 34 balls) and captain Virat Kohli (70 not out off 29 balls) took India to a mammoth total of 240 for three as the opponent bowlers looked helpless. Wankhede was lit up by boundaries and sixes in every over of the game.

A very pleased Kohli said that the series is a gift from him to his wife on their second marriage anniversary. The couple got married two years ago in a private ceremony in Italy.

It was a pretty special innings and also being our second wedding anniversary, it was a special gift. It was a special night and one of the best innings I have played. And batting first we won, feels really good,” Virat Kohli said.

I think two guys in the middle with clarity and the way Rahul and Rohit played today was the key today. Batting first, we have been too tight and hesitant, but this pitch allowed us to play freely. It was a good lesson for us and now we need to remember it,” he added said.
