Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi was one of the brightest prospects for India in the recently concluded Under-19 Cricket World Cup. The way he bamboozled the oppositions with his spin made everyone realize that he is a special talent. Many legends of the game felt that if he is groomed well, Bishnoi can soon be a part of the Indian team in white-ball cricket.

But everything came crashing after the finals. Bishnoi is one of the five players that have been reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for taking part in a scuffle between India and Bangladesh players as soon as the final came to an end.

Speaking about the infamous incident, Ravi Bishnoi’s father has revealed that he still cannot believe that his son was involved in such an incident. He explained the series of events that led to Ravi Bishnoi’s erratic behavior and noted he lost his cool when he saw one of his teammates getting attacked.

“I wonder what happened to my son, because he is one of my calmest children [Ravi has two elder sisters and one brother]. He explained the sequence of events and the circumstances when he lost his cool while trying to save his teammate, who was being attacked by the Bangladeshi players,” Mangilal Bishnoi, father of Ravi Bishnoi, said.

For the uninitiated, as soon as Bangladesh struck the winning runs to clinch the Under-19 Cricket World Cup, it was alleged that some of the Bangladesh players started to abuse the Indian players and in return, the Indians began to say inappropriate words too. But then things went out of the hands and some players from both the teams got engaged in a dirty scuffle which left everyone baffled.

The five players that have been identified by the ICC are Shamim Hossain, Rakibul Hasan, and Towhid Hridoy from Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Indian players Akash Singh and Ravi Bishnoi from Indian have also been reprimanded.

Akbar Ali, captain of the Bangladesh team, apologized from the behalf of his team and noted that such things should not happen on the cricketing field.

“As a youngster, it should not have happened. In any position, in any manner, we have to show respect to the opponent, we should have respect for the game,”Ali said.

Five demerit points have been given to the Indian players while six demerit points have been handed out to the Bangladeshi cricketers.

It is yet to be seen if BCCI takes any kind of action against the youngsters.
