Bazball Failed to Counter Fiery Australian Bowling Attack

Bazball

There is no doubt about the fact that Bazball worked for Joe Root individually, but not for the whole team. Test cricket is a format that is toughest among all the formats of cricket. It tests the patience and the temperament of the players. That is the reason, it is known as Test Cricket. However, Bazball is certainly a completely different theory.

What is Bazball?
After the time Brendon McCullum joined as the head coach of the England Cricket team, the Bazball style was developed. It is completely against the way test cricket is played. By Bazball style, English cricket is going to play Test Cricket like an ODI cricket. This might be advantageous at times, but not every time.

How did Bazball work in the current Ashes test match?
In the current Test match, the England team was not able to give the performance that was necessary. Experts are blaming the Bazball style behind this. It is quite evident that due to the pressure of maintaining a fast run rate, England was not able to set up a big score. Now it is only the bowling of England that can save them.

Bazball Against Australia
As per the Bazball playing style, the England team was playing in a quick-fire way. However, it seems like this playing style is only suitable against Australian bowling attack. That is because in the second inning, not even a single player from England’s side was able to score a fifty.

In the last 14 test matches, Joe Root has scored with an average of close to 70 with a strike rate of almost 74. This shows that the Bazball style is suiting him. However, it is certainly not preferable for the whole team.

So, the solution is that, Bazball should be followed only by those batsmen, who are able to perform in that way, and not by the whole team. Let the batters play in their natural style.
