The 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou witnessed a dazzling display of talent, determination, and sportsmanship from India. Shooter Anant Jeet Singh, a proud Khelo India Athlete, added another shining silver medal to India’s already impressive tally in the men’s skeet individual final.

With 58 points to his name, Anant showcased exceptional skills in a closely contested match. The gold medal, with a score of 60 points, was clinched by Kuwait’s Abdullah Alrashidi, who remarkably equalled the world record set by India’s Angad Vir Singh. Qatar’s Nasser Al-Attiya secured the bronze with a commendable 46 points.

Asian Games: Silver Medal in Skeet Men (Shooting)

Anant Jeet Singh’s remarkable achievement in securing a silver medal in skeet men marked a historic moment for India at the 19th Asian Games. It was the first time ever in the history of the event that India clinched a silver medal. India’s shooters, through their combined excellence, are propelling the country to new heights on the global stage, earning well-deserved cheers and support.

This remarkable achievement was part of India’s 12th medal in shooting at the Hangzhou meet, surpassing their previous best shooting medal tally of 9 achieved in the 2018 Asian Games.

Esha Singh’s Silver in 25m Women’s Pistol

Pistol Shooter Esha Singh brought further glory to India by securing a silver medal in the 25m women’s pistol final. With a total of 34 points, her performance was nothing short of exceptional. The gold medal was claimed by China’s Rui Liu, who amassed 38 points, while South Korea’s Jiin Yaang secured the bronze with 29 points.

Manu Bhaker’s Tough Day

Olympian Manu Bhaker, although a prominent name in Indian shooting, had a disappointing outing in the final with just 21 points. This performance earned her the fifth position, a far cry from her usual excellence. The disappointment was largely attributed to a pistol malfunction, underscoring the fine margins that often separate victory from defeat in the world of competitive shooting.

Bronze for Men’s Skeet Team

Earlier in the competition, the men’s skeet team comprising Angad Vir Singh, Gurjoat Singh, and Anand Jeet Singh displayed their prowess by securing a bronze medal. With an impressive total of 355 points, India celebrated another podium finish. The gold medal in this event went to China with 362 points, while Qatar secured the silver with 359 points.

Double Podium Finish in Women’s 50m Rifle 3P

India’s Sift Kaur Samra and Ashi Chouksey showcased their exceptional skills in the women’s 50m rifle 3P individual final, delivering a double podium finish. Sift Kaur Samra not only secured the gold with a score of 469.6 points but also shattered multiple records, including the world record, Asian record, and Asian Games record.

The previous world record was held by Great Britain, the Asian record by China, and the Asian Games record by Mongolia. Qiongyue Zhang of China secured the silver with 462.3 points, while Ashi Chouksey claimed the bronze with 451.9 points.

Women’s 25m Pistol Team Triumph

In another remarkable achievement, the Indian shooting trio of Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Rhythm Sangwan continued India’s dominating run by capturing a Gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol team event. India secured a total of 1759 points, which was enough to clinch the gold. China followed closely with 1756 points to secure the silver medal, while South Korea bagged the bronze with a total of 1742 points.

Silver in Women’s 50m Rifle 3P Team Shooting

Adding to India’s impressive medal tally, Ashi Chouksey, Manini Kaushik, and Sift Kaur Samara secured a silver medal in the women’s 50m rifle 3P team shooting event. With a score of 1754 points, India displayed exceptional teamwork, falling just 19 points short of the gold medal. China secured the gold with 1756 points, while South Korea claimed the bronze with a total of 1742 points.

As the Asian Games in Hangzhou continue, India has firmly established its presence with an impressive medal haul. The nation currently boasts 22 medals, including 5 golds, 7 silvers, and 10 bronze medals.
