“You Have to Ask That Question to Modi Ji”, Ganguly’s Take on Indo-Pak Cricketing Ties

Sourav Ganguly will officially become the BCCI president on October 23 and before taking over the post, the Bengal tiger has made his intentions clear related to development in Indian cricket.

He already mentioned that his first priority will be looking after first-class cricketers by ensuring a hike in remuneration of first-class cricketers.

But when asked on the BCCI stand on Indo-Pak bilateral series, the prince of Kolkata ducked the question.

“You have to ask that question to Modi ji and the Pakistan Prime Minister. Of course, we have (to take permission), because international exposure (tours) is all through governments. So we don’t have an answer to that question,” Ganguly was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.

India hasn’t played a Test Series with Pakistan since 2007. 2012 was the year when the fans last witnessed the Indo Pak ODI and T20 series. Since then both the subcontinent Giants have gone loggerheads only at the ICC events or Asia Cup.

The last meeting between two cricket superpowers was during the World Cup 2019 when men in blue thrashed the men in green convincingly.

In the last decade where India emerged as the new superpower in cricket, Pakistan cricket’s life has only gone in shambles. Besides the recent Sri Lanka series, there has been no international cricket in Pakistan soil. No test playing nation showed interest in visiting Pakistan after the Sri Lankan team bus was attacked by the terrorist in 2009.

Given BCCI’s condition in the last couple of years, with Ganguly emerging on to the scene the fans expect the good governance and smooth functioning and restoring the lost reputation of BCCI.
