Women Cricketers in Australia set to receive a massive boost! CA releases an “MOU” to help them earn more money!

According to the new five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) reached between Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketers’ Association, Women’s cricketers in the country are expected to receive a significant pay rise of AUD 53 million.

The new MoU states that the professional cricketers from Australia, men and women, will split an estimated AUD 634 million over the following five years, a 26% increase from the previous arrangement. The nation’s female cricketers will now receive compensation from a AUD 133 million pool, up from AUD 80 million earlier, in a significant change.

Whereas the minimal and average women’s contract will rise by 25% and there are now 18 instead of 15 contracts available. In light of this, the average annual earnings of a top-tier centrally contracted female Australian cricketer over the next five years can exceed AUD 800,000. This figure includes their WBBL contract, match fees, and marketing payments.

They also have the possibility to surpass AUD 1,000,000 with additional earnings from the Women’s Premier League of India and the UK’s The Hundred.

The minimum WBBL retainer has immediately increased by 30% on a national basis. Now, the typical WBBL fee will roughly double, rising from AUD 26,900 to 54,200. There will be up to 130 contracts available across the national and domestic sides, and an additional 120 in the WBBL, with up to two more contracts per state being given in the future. As a whole, the agreement will give Australia’s female cricket players the highest-paid female athletes in team sports.

This MOU represents another major step forward in the rise of women’s cricket, with significant increases in remuneration for the inspirational role models of the world champion Australian Women’s team and the WBBL who are driving substantial growth in female participation.” – said Cricket Australia chief executive Nick Hockley.
