Harbhajan Singh and wife Geeta Basra pledge to feed 5000 families amid the Coronavirus

Amidst the coronavirus outbreak in the country, sportspersons from across the country have pledged to donate for combatting the virus. The deadly virus brought the world to a standstill and as we continue to fight with the problem, cricketer Harbhajan Singh and his wife Geeta Basra have taken a step together by donating the ration to the 5000 families during this time of crisis.

Harbhajan Singh took to his twitter account and posted “Satnam waheguru.. bas Himmat hosla dena @Geeta_Basra and I pledge to distribute ration to 5000 families from today May Waheguru bless us all.”

The veteran Indian spinner will be distributing the ration to the families residing in Jalandhar and struggling to feed their families during these difficult times. Those families include several daily wage labourers and the underprivileged who are struggling to even feed themselves. 

Yesterday 2011 World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh also donated 50 lakhs to the Prime Minister CARES Fund and joined India’s other leading sportspersons to have donated for combatting the coronavirus. 

Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar donated 50 Lakhs, while Rohit Sharma donated INR 45 lakh to the PM-CARES Fund, INR 25 lakh to CM Relief Fund while INR 5 lakh each towards Feeding India and welfare of stray dogs. Indian skipper Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma also donated an undisclosed amount to the PM CARES Fund. 

The coronavirus has taken over 70 lives in India and the total number of positive cases of coronavirus has exceeded over 3500 in India so far.
