Virat Kohli not happy with scheduling of New Zealand series, here’s why

Having enjoyed a successful home tour, a tougher challenge awaits India as they will play 5 T-20 internationals, three ODIs and 2 tests against New Zealand, with the first T-20 scheduled to start from Friday.

India are coming off with a solid 2-1 victory over Australia at home, while New Zealand suffered a 3-0 beating in the Test series against the Kangaroos.virat-kohli-india-team

The 5-match T-20 tournament will act as a good preparatory series for the T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held later this year. The last time when India travelled in New Zealand, the men in blue suffered a 2-1 defeat in the T-20 series, however, they got the better off them in the ODI series, ending the series with a scoreline of 4-1.

With the first T-20 going to be played on 24th January, team India landed New Zealand on Wednesday and the Indian skipper doesn’t seem to happy about it.

Virat Kohli has criticized the scheduling of New Zealand, considering the time difference between the two nations and less match practice one gets before the start of the series.kohli-on-india-packed-schedule

It is definitely getting closer and closer to landing at the stadium straight. That is how compressed the gap has become. I think this kind of travel and coming to a place which is seven hours ahead of India time is difficult to adjust immediately. I am sure that these things will be taken into consideration much more in the future,” Kohli was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.

Though, having played a considerable number of matches in 2020, the skipper added that it won’t be too much of a problem despite not getting enough time for match practice.

“The last series we played against Australia was ODIs so we spent more time on the field, but we played a few T20s before that. Having played a lot more cricket than just T20s in the last three games, we will find it easier to come here and play even though with less time (to prepare). We are looking forward to that and starting with the series because this is the year of the world cup and every T20 is important,” Kohli added.
