TATA bags WPL Title Sponsor Rights for next five years

After IPL, now the TATA Group has also bagged the title rights of the Women’s Premier League. The first-ever Women’s Premier League (WPL) title sponsorship rights were given to Tata Group by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for five seasons from 2023 to 2027. During this time, Tata Group will use these sponsorship rights to promote its two flagship brands, TATA Capital and TATA Motors. It has not yet been determined how much the WPL title sponsorship will cost.

After the Chinese cellphone company Vivo pulled out of the deal, the Tata group owns the rights of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The WPL and the BCCI, who issued a call for tenders late last month, have reached a significant milestone with the addition of the title sponsor. The BCCI has already secured a broadcaster for the league, Viacom 18, whose inaugural season will span from March 4 to 26 and be entirely held in Mumbai.

By selling the franchises to five of the country’s leading corporate houses, the BCCI effectively scooped the jackpot. The sale of the five teams brought in Rs 4670 crore for the company. Throughout the first three years of the league’s existence, there will be 22 games played by the teams owned by Adani Group, Reliance, RCB (Diageo), Delhi Capitals, and Capri Global.
