South Africa vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI Prediction : Led by skipper Faf Du Plessis, South Africa registered a comfortable eight-wicket victory in the first ODI against Sri Lanka at the Wanderers Stadium on Sunday. Sri Lanka batting first posted a modest 231 in 50 overs against South Africa’s fierce bowling line up.
Defending a below-par total, Sri Lankans needed a flurry of wickets to inflict any pressure on the Proteas but failed. Thanks to a couple of spectacular knocks by Quinton De Kock and Faf Du Plessis, South Africa chased down the total with ease, winning the first of the five-match ODI series against Sri Lanka by 8 wickets with four ODIs left to be played.
All eyes now shift to the second ODI to be played at Centurion on Wednesday, 6th March. Sri Lanka are expected to showcase a better performance, especially in the bowling department while South Africa looks favourites to win the second ODI as well.
Key Players for South Africa vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI
Without a doubt, South Africa’s skipper Faf Du Plessis stands out as the number one batsman in the eleven. Faf scored a superb century in the first ODI to help his team win the match by eight wickets and we hope he continues his good form in the coming matches as well. Quinton De Kock has been in good touch as well who scored the 19th half-century of his career in the last ODI. Opener Reeza Hendricks might have missed out in the first ODI but is likely to make a stronger comeback ahead of the second ODI.
In Sri Lanka’s squad, Kusal Mendis along with Kusal Perera and Oshada Fernando played well in the last ODI. Experienced campaigner Upul Tharanga would also like to score some runs for the team after getting out for just 8 in the first ODI.
As far as the bowling department is concerned, we would persist with more or less the same bowlers we picked in the first ODI with the likes of Lungi Ngidi, Kagiso Rabada, Imran Tahir, and Lasith Malinga. South Africa’s spinner Imran Tahir might rest in place of a seemer, knowing that the Centurion pitch offers no help to the spinners.
Thisara Perera might not have played up to his potential in the first ODI but you cannot risk dropping such an explosive all-rounder. Thisara is, perhaps, the only all-rounder to be featured in our playing eleven. No other all-rounder in the Dream eleven’s list deserves to be added in the list.

Having a seating capacity of almost 18000 people, the second ODI is expected to be a much-anticipated one. Centurion pitch is one of the quicker pitches in the country with the bat coming on nicely to the bat. The surface offers nothing to the spinners and on a lush and fast outfield, one would expect a high-scoring affair on Wednesday.
