Sebastien Korda stuns seventh-seeded Daniil Medvedev, half of the Round 4 men’s singles fixtures decided

Today, at the Rod Laver Arena, one more upset happened where the seventh seed and the last year’s finalist Daniil Medvedev was knocked out by America’s Sebastien Korda. Upsets have been very common at this year’s Australian Open where lower-rank American players have defeated many of the top-10 seeds before the beginning of the fourth round.

Korda started the match on a high note and took the first set home in the tiebreaker. He carried the momentum with him and won the second set dominantly breaking Medvedev’s serve two times. He was once leading the third set 3-1, but Medvedev made a comeback and it was 5-5 very soon. Korda won the third set too in the tiebreaker.

It took a special effort from Sebastien Korda to beat Russia’s Daniil Medvedev, who is a top player. He won the match in straight sets 7-6 (9-7), 6-3, 7-6 (7-4).

We now have four of the eight fourth-round fixtures ready at the Australian Open 2023. Round 4 is technically the Round of 16 where all these players compete for a place in the quarter-final. The round 4 matches will begin from 22nd January 2023 after the conclusion of Round 3 a day prior.

The half of the fixtures which are ready are as follows:

Jiri Lehecka vs Felix Auger-Aliassime (6), Stefanos Tsitsipas (3) vs Jannik Sinner (15), Yoshihito Nishioka (31) vs Karen Khachanov (18), Hubert Hurkacz (10) vs Sebastien Korda (29).

There are many players who will be in action tomorrow at the Australian Open and would be raring to go for a place in Round 4. The most awaited match will be between Novak Djokovic of Serbia, who is a part of the Big 3 club, and Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria.
