Out of the 18 matches played in round 6, there were 13 outright possible and 5 decided on the first-innings lead.

In Group A, Rajasthan, Bengal, Gujarat and Delhi register wins over their opponents. Group B saw Tamil Nadu register their first win. The match between Himachal Pradesh and Baroda ended in no result, Saurashtra earning the first innings lead over Madhya Pradesh. Mumbai also earning the first innings lead over Uttar Pradesh.

In Group C, Services, Jammu and Kashmir registered thrilling wins. Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand registered dominating wins over their opposition.

Group A

In Group A, Rajasthan registered their first win of this season beating Kerala by an innings and 96 runs at Thiruvananthapuram. Kerala captain Sachin Baby won the toss and decided to bat first. The decision did not pay off as the hosts were bundled out for a paltry total of 90 runs with Rohan Prem as top scorer with 18. SK Sharma was the pick of bowlers for Rajasthan with figures of 5 for 41.

In reply, Rajesh Bishnoi 67, Yash Kothari 92, and Arjit Gupta 36* helped Rajasthan score 268 runs in the first innings. Jalaj Saxena was the pick of bowlers for Kerala with figures of 7 for 77. The second innings was a disappointment as Kerala were again bowled out for 82 with Sachin Baby top scorer with 18. SK Sharma again was the pick of bowlers with figures of 6 for 48. Bengal crushed Hyderabad by an innings and 303 runs at Kalyani. Bengal captain Abhimanyu Easawaran won the toss and decided to bat first. The decision paid off as brilliant 303* not out by experienced Manoj Tiwary, Shreevats Goswami 95, Anustup Majmudar 59, Shahbaz Ahmed 49 and Arnab Nandi 65* helped Bengal post a massive total of 635 for 7. Ravi Kiran was the pick of bowlers for Hyderabad with 3 for 74.

In reply, Hyderabad were bowled out for 172 in the first innings. Jaweed Ali was the top scorer with 72 runs. Akash Deep and Shahbaz Ahmed took 4 wickets each. Deciding to follow on, Hyderabad were bowled out for 161. Ravi Teja was the top scorer with 53. Akash Deep took 4 wickets in the 2nd innings. Bengal registered 7 points.

Gujarat defeated Punjab by 110 runs in a low scoring thriller played at Valsad. Gujarat captain Parthiv Patel won the toss and decided to bat first. A brilliant 130 by Bhargav Merai helped the hosts post 281 runs in first innings. Siddarth Kaul took 5 for 58 and Baltej Singh 4 for 64 were the pick of bowlers for Punjab.

In reply, Punjab could only post 229 runs in their first innings thanks to Mandeep Singh 57 and Anmol Malhotra 119. Arzan Nagwasalla took 5 for 64. Punjab bowlers made a strong comeback in the 2nd innings to bowl out Gujarat for 167. Kshitij Patel was the top scorer with 57. Siddarth Kaul to 4 for 53 runs in the 2nd innings for Punjab.

Chasing 220 runs to win, Sanvir Singh and Abhijeet Garg got off to a decent start adding 35 runs for the opening wicket. From 74 for 1, Punjab were bowled out for 109 runs on the 4th morning. Nagwasalla was the again the pick of bowlers with 5 for 50 while Chintan Gaja took 4 for 35.

Delhi registered a stunning win over defending Champions Vidarbha by six wickets played at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, New Delhi. Delhi captain Dhruv Shorey won the toss and decided to field first. A superb bowling performance by Ishant Sharma who took 3 for 45 and Simarjeet Singh 4 for 39 bowled out Vidarbha for 179 runs. Wasim Jaffer was the top scorer for Vidarbha with 83.

In reply, Delhi were bundled out for 163 runs in their first innings. Anuj Rawat was the top scorer for Delhi with 37. Aditya Thakare took 7 for 55 which helped Vidarbha to take a 16 run lead.

It was a superb batting performance by Vidarbha batsmen in the 2nd innings. Ganesh Satish 100*, Akshay Wadkar 70*, Sanjay Ragunath 57 helped Vidarbha declare their innings on 330 for 3.

Chasing 347 runs to win in quick time, Hiten Dalal and Kunal Chandela brilliant opening partnership of 163 runs laid a strong foundation. Nitish Rana came to the crease and remained not out on 105 off 68 balls helped Delhi win the match by six wickets.

Group B

Tamil Nadu registered their first win of the tournament beating Railways by an innings and 164 runs at Chennai. Railways captain Arindam Ghosh won the toss and decided to bat first. The decision did not pay off as the hosts bowled out Railways for just 76 runs. M Siddarth and Ravichandran Ashwin took 4 wickets each. In reply, thanks to Mukund 100, Dinesh Karthik and Baba Indrajith 58 each, Suryaprakash 50 helped Tamil Nadu post 330 runs. Harsh Tyagi picked up 5 for 98.

In their second innings, Railways could not handle the pressure of Tamil Nadu bowlers and were bowled out for 90. Sai Kishore took 5 for 16 and Ravichandran Ashwin 3 for 36. Tamil Nadu registered a bonus point for an innings win.ranji-trophy-round-6.

The match between Baroda and Himachal Pradesh ended in a draw due to rain played at Dharamshala. Baroda captain Devdhar won the toss and decided to field first. Contributions from every batsman helped hosts Himachal Pradesh post 496 runs. A Vashisht was the top scorer for Himachal with 86. Meriwala, Sheth and Swapnil Singh took 3 wickets each.

In reply, Vishnu Solanki 85* helped Baroda post 150 for 2 before rain called off play on day 3 and day 4.

The match between Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai ended in a high scoring draw played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Uttar Pradesh captain Ankit Rajpoot won the toss and decided to bat first.

It was a brilliant batting performance by the  Uttar Pradesh team who declared their innings on 625 for 8. Upendra Yadav scored a brilliant 203* and Akshdeep Nath 115. Royston Dias took 3 for 103.

Thanks to Sarfaraz Khan 301* Mumbai took the first-innings lead over Uttar Pradesh. Siddesh Lad scored 98, Hardik Tamore 51. Ankit Rajpoot was the pick of bowlers with 3 for 133.

The match between Saurashtra and Madhya Pradesh ended in a draw with Saurashtra earning the first-innings lead. MP captain Naman Ojha won the toss and decided to field first. Thanks to Sheldon Jackson 186, Saurashtra posted 344 runs. Gaurav Yadav was the pick of bowlers for MP with 5 for 105.

In reply, MP were bowled out for 280 runs in the first innings. Yash Dubey 74 and Venkatesh Iyer 75 were the top scorers. Jaydev Unadkat was the pick of bowlers with 4 for 45. In their 2nd innings, Saurashtra posted 256 for 9 declared. Harvik Desai scored 115 runs while Pujara made 69.

Chasing the target 321 runs to win, Saurashtra were denied the victory as MP scored 223 for 9. DA Jadeja took 4 for 51 in the 2nd innings.

Group C

Services registered a thrilling 1 wicket win over Haryana in Group C match played at Palam A Stadium, Delhi. Services captain Rajat Palliwal won the toss and decided to field first. A brilliant bowling performance by Diwesh Pathania who took 5 for 65 bowled out Haryana for 176. Rohit Pramod Sharma 57 and Sumit Kumar 51 were the top contributors.ranji-trophy-2019-20

In reply, Services were bowled out for 97. Rahul Singh was the top scorer with 24. Haryana captain Harshal Patel bowled a brilliant spell with figures of 6 for 52.

Haryana in their 2nd innings could only score 133 runs. Ankit Kumar was the top scorer with 35 and Ajit Chahal 34*. Chasing the target of 215 runs to win, Services were struggling at 149 for 7, Rahul Singh 115, Lohchab 28 and Pathaina 19 helped the hosts register a thrilling 1 wicket win. Services earned 6 points.

In another thrilling encounter, Jammu and Kashmir impressed defeated Odisha by 4 wickets played at DRIEMS Ground , Cuttack. J and K captain Parveez Rasool won the toss and decided to field first. The decision paid off as the visitors bowled out Odisha for just 161. Senapati was the top scorer with 42. Aquib Naib was the pick of bowlers for J and K with 5 for 39.

Odisha fought back strongly bowling out Jammu and Kashmir for 124 runs in their first innings. Shubam Khajuria was the top scorer with 40. Basant Mohanty took 4 for 42, Pradhan 3 for 12.

Jammu and Kashmir showed their fighting spirit bowling out Odisha for 166 runs. Shantanu Mishra and Sarangi were top scorers with 26 each. Umar Nazir Mir took 5 for 72.

With a target of 205 runs to win, Suryansh Raina 69, Shubham Pandir 45, Adbul Samad 30 and Aquib Naib partnership helped Jammu and Kashmir register a thrilling 4 wicket win.

Chhattisgarh defeated Tripura by an innings and 28 runs played at Raipur. Chhattisgarh captain Harpreet Singh won the toss and decided to field first. A superb bowling performance by the hosts bowled Tripura for 53. Rajat Dey was the top scorer with 20. Pankaj Kumar Rao took 5 for 11.

In reply, Chhattisgarh scored 225 runs in first innings. Chandrasekar was the top scorer with 73. Abhijeet and Ajoy Sarkar picked 3 wickets each. Tripura again faltered in 2nd innings to be bowled out for 144. Pallab Das was the top scorer with 76*.

Veer Pratap Singh took 5 for 53. Chhattisgarh register 7 points.

Jharkhand defeated Uttarakhand by six wickets played at JSCA Stadium, Ranchi. Jharkhand captain Saurabh Tiwary won the toss and decided to field first. A superb bowling performance by Ajay Yadav who took 6 for 55 and Ashish Kumar 4 for 52 bowled out Uttarakhand for 229. Saurabh Rawat was the top scorer for Uttarakhand with 66.

In reply, Jharkhand posted 298 runs in their first innings. Kumar Deobrat was the top scorer for Jharkhand with 85. Mayank Mishra was the pick of bowlers for Uttarakhand with 5 for 100.

Apart from Saurabh Rawat 110 in the 2nd innings, none of Uttarakhand batsmen contributed as they were bowled out for 273. Ashish Kumar took 5 for 61 for Jharkhand in 2nd innings.

Chasing 203 runs to win, Kumar Deobrat 93* and Kumar Suraj 49 helped Jharkhand chase down the target with six wickets remaining.

Maharashtra produced a dominating display to defeat Assam by 218 runs played at Basapara Stadium, Guwahati. Assam captain Gokul Sharma won the toss and decided to field first.

The decision paid off Ranjit Mali and Arup Das 4 wickets each helped Assam bowl out Maharashtra for 175. In reply, Assam could not post a massive total as they were bowled out for 244. Rishav Das was the top scorer with 94. Satyajeet Bachhav was the pick of bowler with figures of 4 for 44.

In their 2nd innings, Maharashtra declared their innings on 365 for 9. Jay Pande was the top scorer with 130. Ranjit Mali was the pick of bowlers for Assam with 5 for 123.

With a target of 297 runs to win, Assam were bowled out for 78 runs in their 2nd innings. Jain was the top scorer for Assam with 19. A Palkar was the pick of bowlers for Maharashtra with figures of 6 for 42.

Plate Group

Meghalaya defeated Manipur by an innings and 116 runs played at Mangaldoi. Manipur captain Kangabam Singh won the toss and decided to field first. A superb knock by Dwarka Ravi Teja with 90 and Puneet Bisht 66 helped Meghalaya post 235. Rex Singh and Meitei took 3 wickets each for Manipur.

In reply, Manipur were bundled out for just 27 runs. Sanjay Yadav 6 for 12 and Abhay Negi 4 for 5 bowled them out cheaply. Follow on, Manipur fared much better but were bowled out for 92. Pudducherry registered a dominating 296 runs win over Arunachal Pradesh. Arunachal Pradesh captain Songo Tacho won the toss and decided to field first. It was a good bowling performance by Arunachal Pradesh bowlers to dismiss Pudducherry for 209 runs. Sagar Trivedi was the top scorer with 79*. Tempol took 5 for 61 and Sahani 4 for 77 were the pick of bowlers.

In reply, Arunachal Pradesh were bowled out for 192. Samarth Seth was the top scorer with 67 and Rahul Dalal with 51. Vinay Kumar took 6 for 51. Pudducherry showed their class in the 2nd innings to post 351.

Paras Dogra scored 61, Rohit 46 and contributions from everybody helped Pudducherry reach a competitive total. Chasing 357 runs to win, Arunachal Pradesh were bowled out for 72. Vinay Kumar was the wrecker in chief with 5 for 25. Pudducherry won the match by a massive 296 runs margin.

Mizoram defeated Sikkim by 78 runs played at KIIT Stadium, Bhuvneshwar. Sikkim captain Tamang won the toss and decided to field first. A brilliant inning by Taruwar Kohli who scored 113 helped Mizoram post 201. Iqbal Abdulla was the pick of bowlers for Sikkim with 5 for 78.

In reply, Sikkim were bowled out for 139 runs. Yashpal Singh was the top scorer with 44. Lalbiakvela was the pick of bowlers with figures of 8 for 56.

Mizoram scored 179 runs in their 2nd innings with Taruwar Kohli 55 and KB Pawan 51 as the top scorers. Ishwar Chaudhary was the pick of bowlers with figures of 5 for 70.

Chasing 241 runs to win, Sikkim were bowled out for 163 runs. Iqbal Abdulla was the top scorer with 37. Taruwar Kohli picked 6 for 52.

The match between Nagaland and Bihar ended in a draw with Bihar earning 3 points. Nagaland captain Jonathan won the toss and decided to bat first. The decision did not pay off as they were bowled out for 166 runs.

In reply, Bihar posted a massive total of 509 for 7 declared. Vikash Ranjan 103 and Rahmatullah 106, Rathour 81.

Nagaland fared much better in the 2nd innings posting 444 for 4. Captain Jonathan led from the front with 200*.

The match between Goa and Chandigarh ended in a high scoring draw. Batting first, Goa were bowled out for 251 runs in the first innings. Prabhudesai was the top scorer with 90.

In reply, Chandigarh posted a massive total of 580 for 7 declared. Shivam Bhambri 157, Manan Vohra 102 and Bipul Sharma 103 were the top scorers.

Goa played well in the 2nd innings scoring 253 for 6. Pandrekar was the top scorer with 60. Chandigarh earned 3 points while Goa 1.
