Mumbai Batsman Prithvi Shaw smacked a number of records in Ranji Trophy history after amassing 379 runs against Assam earlier today. He sent a strong message to the new selection committee for the upcoming series against Australia and New Zealand.
He has been highly overlooked despite putting up good performances and today’s inning against Assam was his latest. At the Amigaon Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, Shaw scored a ground breaking 379 runs off just 382 deliveries. His score is now the second highest total by any Batsman in Ranji Trophy.
Shaw is behind Bhausaheb Nimbalkar, who scored 443 for Maharashtra against Kathiyar a year after India got his independence.
Prithvi Shaw also accomplished a singular milestone by scoring a triple century against Assam. The young batsman made Indian history by becoming the first to score triple hundreds in the Ranji Trophy, a double hundred in the one-day Vijay Hazare Trophy, and a century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20).
On Day 2 of the match, Shaw was ejected by Riyan Parag during the first session. Former Indian batter Gautam Gambhir recently supported Shaw and pleaded with coaches and selectors to aid him and keep him on their radar.
