Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Amir has shocked all his cricket fans after he announces his decision to retire from International Cricket. The news was confirmed by the media release from PCB stating that Amir has informed PCB Chief Executive Wasim khan that “He doesn’t want to play any longer with current management and thus he has decided to retire from international cricket, and he should not be considered for International Tour Matches in future”.

His last appearance came in Lankan Premier League inaugural edition where he was playing final against Jaffna Stallions for Galle Gladiators and he has represented Pakistan in 30 Tests, 61 ODIs and 50 T20Is till date and has picked 259 International wickets. For his national team, he played his last T20I series against England in August earlier this year.

When Amir started hitting the cricketing arena at the age of 17th he was said to be the next big sensation for Pakistan where he clinched 55 wickets for National Bank of Pakistan in his debut season. And fans and experts started calling him “The new Wasim Akram of Pakistan Cricket” and with the hype around him due to his exemplary performance, he was selected for the Pakistan 2009 T20 World Cup side where he made his debut against England. He played an instrumental role in the final of 2009 T20 World Cup against Sri Lanka to claim the title.

However, the biggest hurdle came in his carrier when he was found guilty of spot-fixing in England and was banned for five years. He made his comeback in 2015 for Pakistan and went on to play a crucial role in lifting the Champions Trophy title in 2017. However, in 2019 he retired from Test cricket to shift his focus towards white-ball cricket but his decision was slammed by Pakistan’s current bowling coach Waqar Younis who felt that the team combination was impacted in the Test lineup after the speedster announced his retirement.
