‘One mistake could spoil the whole IPL’: Virat Kohli urges team to follow bio-secure protocols

In what was RCB’S first virtual meeting on Monday, Virat Kohli urged his counterparts to follow the protocols set by UAE authorities in view of Covid-19 Pandemic. During the virtual meeting, Virat Kohli firstly congratulated everyone for landing UAE safely. He went onto make a clear instruction to adhere all the protocols and guidelines set by the authorities, making no compromise whatsoever.

We have followed what’s been told to us and I would expect everyone to be on the same page in terms of securing the bubble at all times. And making sure that nothing is comprised because I think one mistake from any of us could literally spoil the whole tournament [IPL] and none of us want to do that,” Virat Kohli said.

It might happen at a stage of the tournament where we can’t afford to lose that player. And if he does so and we get harmed by it, the whole team, the whole system, the whole culture loses,” the RCB skipper added.

RCB’s Director of Cricket Operations, Mike Hesson and head coach, Simon Katich too spoke out their minds on the issue and told about the consequences of violating the rules.

It (violation) will be dealt with very seriously. For accidental breach, players will be removed and sent into isolation for seven days and then come back only after he tests negative.” Hesson said.

RCB are one of the most popular teams in IPL. The franchise always had big names in their squad but has never managed to win a title in the 13 editions played so far but finished as runners-up on three occasions. They would look to exhibited a good show this time and bring the coveted trophy home.

For the uninitiated, all the players have landed UAE and are currently undergoing a seven-day self-isolated period.
