“Nobody Is Sick Or Dying”, Russell Domingo Shrugs Off Pollution Talks

The Financial Express

Russell Domingo, the head coach of the Bangladesh cricket team, has shrugged off the talks about Delhi’s weather saying that the weather in the Indian capital is not making any of his players “die”.

According to Domingo, if he talks about the weather in general, it’s not too bad because the temperature has been pretty nice. Yes, he would have liked the pollution level to be a little lower, but it’s okay as the players of both sides have to deal with the conditions, not just his boys.

When asked if the Bangladesh players have had any health issues since their arrival in India, Domingo said there haven’t been any “big” health issues. Some players have suffered a little bit of infection in the eyes and throat, nothing more.

The air pollution in Delhi remains a concern throughout the year, but it gets from bad to worse during Diwali because of the crackers which are burst during the festival and it’s only about a week after Diwali that the India vs Bangladesh T20I game is scheduled in Delhi.

There has already been a lot of drama and chaos ahead of India vs Bangladesh series including the strike of the Bangladesh players, the ban on Shakib Al Hasan, the last minute changes in the Bangladesh squad and now, the newest addition to the list is the air pollution.

Many people are not happy about the fact that BCCI didn’t take the players’ health into consideration and didn’t shift the venue of the 1st T20I from Delhi to elsewhere, but Domingo is not paying too much attention to the talks surrounding the pollution in Delhi.

“The weather has been magnificent. It’s not too hot. Not obviously perfect with the smog, but it’s the same for both the teams. But we are not really complaining about it. We obviously have some scratchy eyes, some sore throats but it’s been okay. Nobody is sick or dying.” Domingo told the reporters.
