The Bangladesh players are not going to take part in any cricket match in the domestic circuit of the country for an indefinite period of time. The players are opposing some of the decisions that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has made in the recent times. The decisions include cutting down the wages of the players in first class cricket as well as in the BPL.
The Bangladesh players also have issues with the facilities that are being provided in domestic cricket.
The National Cricket League (NCL) is in progress in Bangladesh at the moment and Bangladesh has to tour India as well shortly. Not only the NCL will come to a halt because of this strike, if it doesn’t end in the next few days, the Bangladesh tour of India might be cancelled as well.
The Bangladesh players have been unhappy with BCB for quite some time now. Even a couple of days back, Shakib Al Hasan had raised questions over some of the recent moves of BCB. Shakib had said that there are a lot of things which need to be corrected in the Bangladesh domestic infrastructure, but BCB is not focusing on that.
Shakib had talked about the indoor facilities in Mirpur where there are no ACs. According to Shakib, it’s not possible for the cricketers to practice for a long period of time in the indoor nets there because it gets incredibly hot and the players have let the board know about that several times in the past, but the board hasn’t done anything about it.
“You cannot bat for more than 15 minutes in the Mirpur indoor facilities, because it gets so hot. They haven’t installed ACs even after being told for ten years. It is quite disappointing, especially when we see indoors in other countries that have clear lighting and ACs.” Shakib said while talking to a Bengali newspaper Samakal.
