Legendary NFL player Tom Brady and seven-time Super Bowl champion, delighted fans of Birmingham City FC by revealing that he has become a minority owner of the English second-division club. Partnering with Birmingham City’s holding company, Knighthead Capital Management LLC, the 46-year-old will now serve as the chairman of a newly formed advisory board.

Expressing his immense joy and excitement, Brady stated that he is absolutely thrilled with this new venture. “HERE WE GO! Couldn’t be more excited to be part of the Blues family 💙. This is a city and club on the rise and I can’t wait to experience the St. Andrew’s atmosphere for myself.” – Tom Brady wrote on Instagram.

This move makes Brady the latest prominent American figure to get involved in English football. We’ve seen Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney purchase Wrexham in 2020 and celebrate the team’s return to the English Football League in April.

Additionally, three-time golf major winner Jordan Spieth became associated with Leeds after acquiring shares in 49ers Enterprises, the investment arm of the NFL franchise San Francisco 49ers.

Birmingham City, a Championship side, has a rich history, having won the League Cup twice. However, their last triumph in 2011 was followed by relegation from the Premier League, and they haven’t returned to the top-flight since then.

US-based branch of Knighthead Capital Management Shelby Limited as reportedly completed its takeover of the Chinese-owned club in July.

Birmingham City’s chairman, Tom Wagner, who co-founded Knighthead, expressed that having Tom Brady on board is a strong statement of their intentions and aspirations for the club’s future.
