English Premier League champions Manchester City are back in business as they aim to retain the Premier League title for the third season in a row. Although they are currently 2nd in table, trailing Arsenal by 5 points, but as they season will proceed the Citizens will look to cut the gap short.

It is something they have done in the previous seasons as well but this time around, City have a very good chance of winning 3 back-to-back PL titles. This feat was last achieved by Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United back in 2006-2007, 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 season.

While City aim to repeat what their neighbors did, Erling Haaland is on a league of his own. The Champions traveled to Elland Road last night to take on Leeds, the place of Haaland’s birth. It was City’s first Premier League match after the World cup and they resumed their campaign in style.

After losing to Brentford at home in their last PL outing, City made amends to take the second spot. The match was goalless till 45+1 but after Riyadh Mahrez’s shot met Illan Meslier’s hand, Defensive midfielder Rodrigo guided the rebound into the back of the net to give City the lead.

Within six minutes into the Second-half, Jack Grealish intercepted the ball from Leeds and while he had a chance to go for the glory, the English international chose to cut it back to Haaland and helped him score City’s second of the night. 13 minutes later, Grealish was at it once again.

Kevin De Bruyne’s smart game play saw him pass the ball to Haaland just outside the box, who then flicked it towards Grealish in the left flank. Grealish would again cut it back with his left to find Haaland in the box. The number 9 made no mistake to scored the second of his night and 20th goal of the season.

The Norwegian has now become the fastest to score 20 goals in the Premier League as it took him only 14 matches to do so. He overtook former English striker Kevin Phillips’ tally of 20 goals in 21 matches. Haaland did the same in 7 fewer matches.
