Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Chris Paul on Thursday spoke about his trade to the side during the summers in 2019 as the multiple time All-Star opened up about his mindset playing for the side after the transfer.

The 34-year-old talked about what was going on his mind as he admitted of ‘proving’ himself playing for the side. Coming from the Houston Rockets, the All-star had to prove his worth by creating an impact from the first game itself as he said,

“The thing as a hooper is confidence…so when I went to Oklahoma, I had already started my training, so when the trade happened, I wasn’t tripping… I was more pissed about being away from the family,” Chris Paul said.

“When I got to Oklahoma, I had to prove myself…Whether that’s the case or not, if the media puts you out there as somewhat washed, then people start to think that. I had to prove myself to my Thunder teammates, to my coaches, to everybody in the organization. I had to show that I could stay healthy. I had to prove all this stuff.”

Paul made his All-Star debut in 2016 and after 4 years he was again listed in the All-Star team as he said that the Thunder didn’t waste their trading by acquiring him.

The NBA season was suspended after the Utah Jazz Center Rudy Gobert was tested positive of the coronavirus. And before the season was suspended, Oklahoma City Thunder (40-24) was ranked fifth in the Western Conference while Paul averaged  17.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 6.8 assists for the side. He was also shooting 48.9 percent from the field, 36.2 percent from beyond the arc and 90.0 percent from the free-throw line.

There is still no clarity of when the season will resume due to the number of coronavirus cases rising in the US at a drastic rate with over 2,40,000 confirmed cases in the country and 5,926 deaths so far.
