Ashwin Equals Shane Warne’s Five-Fer Tally, Chases Muralitharan’s Record

Indian spin maestro Ravichandran Ashwin continued his dominance in Test cricket, claiming his 37th five-wicket haul during the first Test against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This remarkable achievement puts him on par with the legendary Shane Warne, and only Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan stands ahead with 67 five-fers.  

Ashwin’s latest Five-fer came in the second innings of the match, where he showcased his exceptional skills and guile to bamboozle the Bangladeshi batsmen. This was also his 7th Five-wicket haul in the fourth inning of a Test match, equaling the joint-second most alongside Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan. Only Rangana Herath, with 12, holds the record for the most Five-fers in the fourth inning.

In the current match against Bangladesh, Ashwin not only took wickets but also contributed significantly with the bat, scoring 113 runs in the first innings.
