Most Fifty-plus Scores in IPL History, Virat Kohli Tops the List
Cometh the hour, cometh the man! It seems as if Virat Kohli has vowed to break all the records set by any batsman in the history of cricket. Whether it’s the red-ball or the white-ball format, Kohli has been a dominant force for years together.
As a run-machine, his energy never ceases to exist. In the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025 edition, he has created a new record thanks to his batting during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s latest outing against the Punjab Kings on Sunday, April 21.
The pioneer Virat Kohli added another record to his illustrious IPL career, becoming the player with the most fifty-plus scores in the tournament’s history. With David Warner as the original holder of this record, he had 66 fifty-plus scores from the 184 matches that he has played in his IPL career so far.
Kohli’s fiery 73 not out from 54 balls against the Punjab Kings marked his 59th IPL half-century and his 67th score of crossing the half-century mark, edging past David Warner’s tally quite smoothly. Kohli now stands alone atop the all-time list, with 59 fifties and 8 hundreds, compared to Warner’s 62 fifties and 4 centuries.
Going by the popular belief, the RCB squad won their away game, with Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal both smashing half-centuries, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru crushed the hosts by seven wickets in their clash and taking revenge because of the forgettable loss against the same side just two days prior.
Virat’s composed innings was a balance of aggression and grit, playing an anchor’s role perfectly. His sensational performance has been a benchmark for aspiring and established players to seek inspiration from.
