19-year-old Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz is all set to miss the upcoming Australian Open starting from January 16. The World number 1 opted out from participating in the tournament after sustaining a Leg injury which could keep him out of action for several months. He announced the news on Friday via Twitter.
When I was at my best in preseason, I picked up an injury through a chance, unnatural movement in training. This time it's the semimembranosus muscle in my right leg. pic.twitter.com/nJbIlMtGyK

You can draw the amount of disappointment Alcaraz has by reading this tweet of his. An Unnatural movement or an awkward landing might be the reason behind his untimely Injury. His right leg has been injured and it will keep him out of the first grand slam of 2023. It will be even more dreadful for him because he stated the fact that it was proving to be one of his best pre-seasons ever.
“I’d worked so hard to get to my best level for Australia but unfortunately I won’t be able to play the Care A2+ Kooyong or the Australian Open. It’s tough, but I have to be optimistic, recover and look forward. See you in 2024”. – he added further more via Tweet.
The Australian Open will start from January 16 but in 2 days from 9th Jan, the qualifiers will begin. However, the world number 1 will not be a part of the tournament but some of the other top players will benefit from it. 22-time Grand slam winner Rafael Nadal will receive promotion to the top seed while Serbia’s Novak Djokovic will receive a boost too as he will now be a part of the top 4 seeding.
