Adding to the list of players linked with a move in Europe, Kevin de Bruyne’s name has hit the streets now. The Manchester City midfield maestro, Kevin De Bruyne’s name was heard in the transfer speculations, but his manager Roberto Martinez is confident Kevin De Bruyne will remain at Manchester City in spite of the club’s ban from the Champions League.

The European football elite body, UEFA banned them from European competitions for the next two seasons, because they found City to be guilty of  ‘serious breaches’ of Financial Fair Play and according to a statement issued on February 14.

Due to the ban, the future of some star players are in serious doubts and it has massive implications for the club as well. However, should the ban be upheld, the decision is subject to an appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

De Bruyne’s international manager, Martinez believes his player De Bruyne will remain in Manchester regardless.

Martinez told beIN Sports:

“Kevin De Bruyne is committed to the project of Manchester City,”

“So we don’t know what’s going to happen, the ban maybe will be [reduced] to one year. I think two years will have big implications to Manchester City.

“But I think it’s too early, I don’t think everyone is thinking to their futures just yet.

“I think the time of talking about the future of the players will be after all these competitions are clear.”

The Champions League ban has raised the speculations over the stay of Pep Guardiola at Manchester. However, the manager has been optimistic about staying in England. Cityzens manager Pep Guardiola said on his probable chances of sacking and extending his stay at Etihad Stadium:

“If they don’t sack me, which could happen, I will stay here more than ever”

“First because I want to stay, not because this is something special. I want to stay longer than the contract that I have. I said before and now and until the end of my contract that I want to help the club grow and maintain this level for as long as possible.

“Why should I leave? I said before that I love this club and I like to be here so why should I leave, more than ever in this situation.

I am optimistic we can finish this well. Me personally, we spoke to the players and in the next three months we will focus on what we will have to do then we will see the situation but no matter what I will be here.”
