IPL 2025: PBKS vs KKR Head-to-Head, Stats, and Predicted Playing 11
Its match number 31 of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025, and well it’s not just another regular encounter. This match is going to be a memorable one in ways more than one. The team from the north Punjab Kings, will take on the men in purple from the city of joy, Kolkata Knight Riders, at the Mullanpur stadium in New Chandigarh tonight.
The big picture highlight of this high-octane class though will be the current captain of PBKS, Shreyas Iyer facing his former team, the defending champions KKR. Less than a year back, Iyer led the Kolkata Knight Riders to their third IPL victory title. On Tuesday he will face the same team but as a leader of the opposition pack.
Ahead of IPL 2025, KKR had retained six players, but Iyer wasn’t in that list. Shreyas Iyer’s shift to a new team and his reunion with former coach Ricky Ponting have so far been working better than anticipated.
Overall, both sides PBKS and KKR have been rather inconsistent, with a mix of wins and losses both. Punjab Kings are currently sixth on the points table with three wins and two losses in five matches. They lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the previous match despite scoring 245 runs and will be keen to bounce back. They will be playing at home and surely look to take complete advantage of this condition.
On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders beat Chennai Super Kings in the previous match, making them look clueless with both batting and bowling. The KKR men are placed in the middle, fifth on the points table with three wins and three losses in six matches. This promises to be a closely fought game between two formidable sides.
Both teams have a solid batting line-up, which will help them score runs in the game. KKR and PBKS have faced each other in 33 matches so far, out of which Ajinkya Rahane led team has won 21 times whereas the players from Punjab have come out victorious on 12 occasions.
Game Condition:
The Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium is considered to be a batting friendly ground. The pitch is known to not favour the bowlers more, so the captain who wins the toss should look to bat first, as chasing would be relatively easy.
This would be the third match of the IPL 2025 on this ground and the previous two matches were won by teams batting first.
PBKS Predicted XI:
Prabhsimran Singh (wk), Shreyas Iyer (C), Nehal Wadhera, Priyansh Arya, Glenn Maxwell, Shashank Singh, Marcus Stoinis, Marco Jansen, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, Xavier Bartlett

Quinton de Kock (wk), Rinku Singh, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Ajinkya Rahane (C), Venkatesh Iyer, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Moeen Ali, Vaibhav Arora, Varun Chakravarthy, H Rana

This battle of the forces, between Iyer’s former team and current team will see all of his expertise being put to test, with chances of the clash being quite exciting to watch for cricket fans on both sides.
